Welcome to CAYR!

CAYR stands for "Come As You Are" and is the Young Adults ministry at the Abbotsford Church of the Nazarene. The term, "Young Adults" includes anyone from any background that has graduated from high school and is up to 30 something (or anyone who feels like a young adult)!. We call our selves, "Come As You Are" because we want people to do just that. Whether someone is a long time Christian, a new Christian, not a Christian, interested in Christianity, not interested in Christianity, having a great day, having a terrible day (you get the picture), we want them to come be a part of community just as they are. So, we invite people to our Sunday night coffee house where we meet to engage in relationships, conversation, and the teachings of Jesus, and to our social gatherings to come just as they are.

CAYR Coffee House: Sundays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm (childcare provided) at the Abbotsford Church of the Nazarene (2390 McMillan Rd in, you guessed it, Abbotsford).

Unity Night Worship Service!

Instead of doing our usual study this coming Sunday (March 11th), we will be going to the Unity Night worship service at Olivet Mennonite Church (2630 Langdon Street). This worship service is being put on by three of the Christian Colleges in Abbotsford. It starts at 7:30pm so we'll aim to leave the church by 7:00pm. If you want to meet us there, that's fine. If you need a ride, give me a call or email me.

On Sunday, March 18th, we'll be starting back up with our study of Matthew, and Allan McLeod will be leading it on Matthew 5:13-16. Because of the church-wide prayer time that begins at 6:00pm every Sunday evening, we will still start the CAYR coffee house time at 6:30pm, but we won't start the study portion until after 7:00pm so that those that want to be a part of the prayer time don't feel rushed. We may also be moving down into the HUB, so if we're not in the Fireside room when you get to the church, we're down in the HUB so come on down! Take care, and we'll see you soon!

Blessings,

Graham

Gathering at Brad and Adam's Place! (02/18/2007/12:30pm)

So next Sunday, February 18th after church (around 12:30pm) we will be heading over to Brad and Adam's place in the Meadow Wood townhouse complex off of Clearbrook Rd (right by CBC) for a potluck lunch. More details in terms of their address and what you need to bring will come soon, but let us know you're coming by leaving a comment saying, "hey, I'm coming", and of course, leave your name. Or, you can just email me and let me know. Invite your friends and leave comments or drop me an email telling us they're coming. Oh ya, and we won't be doing the CAYR Coffee House that night...we're doing this instead.

Peace out,

Graham

The Notes From Tonight and Remember to Tell Us About Your Blog Thoughts!

Hey everyone! I've posted the link to the notes on our reading from tonight on a new links section to the right. It's a pdf file and it should download automatically. This is what we talked about tonight, so if you missed it, or want to go over it again, go ahead, download it! This is where I will post notes for future readings.

I've also noticed a few of you have posts on your blogs related to our talks. Leave a quick comment under the reading it relates to pointing us to your blog so we can read and participate in your thoughts, or just copy and paste it as a new comment! Thanks!

Blessings,

Graham

Our Next Reading!

Our reading for Sunday, February 11th is Matthew 5:1-12, also known as the Beatitudes. Come on out for 6:30 for coffee and snacks and good company and then we'll jump into our passage together. I should be able to post a link to my notes, so if you miss tonight, you can catch up and join in the discussion on this blog or your own blog. If you have your own blog, email the link to it and I'll post it as a link on this blog.

Blessings,

Graham

CAYR Coffee House at 6:30pm this Sunday

OK, so I've decided to enter the readings as their own blog entry so that you can respond to each one if you want to post your thoughts or engage others in conversation concerning the topic we discussed on the Sunday night (if you want to respond to the passages we looked at last Sunday, do so on the first "Readings" post I made). So, this Sunday (January 21st) the Bible passage we will be looking at is Matthew 3:13 – 4:11, so if you want to start thinking about it (or blogging about it) check out this passage! See you at 6:30pm (childcare provided)!

Readings

If I get my act together, or we have a guest speaker, we'll post the Scripture reading that we will be discussing ahead of time (or on the day of) so you can read the passage before you come, or if you miss a night, you can read the passage so you can catch up. This is all optional of course...you're not required to read anything to show up...it just might help you out. They'll be posted as comments, so click on "comments" to view the upcoming readings.
